Man killed near Candler Road gas station, police looking for shooter
ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - A man is dead after an altercation between customers at a gas station in DeKalb County took a violent turn.
It happened just after 2:20 a.m. Wednesday on Candler Road. According to police, the customer shot the man twice before running away.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. Police are gathering evidence from the scene and pulling surveillance video in effort to find the gunman.
The shooting comes on the heels of new legislation crafted by DeKalb County Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson that, if passed, would require gas stations to have surveillance cameras at every dock in order to keep their business licenses.
In Atlanta, City Council member Keisha Sean Waites drafted a similar bill that would also require surveillance cameras at local gas stations after police reported an alarming rise in incidents of gun violence at gas stations.
Atlanta’s Interim Police Chief Darin Schierbaum previously noted that four of the City’s 83 homicides in 2022 have occurred at gas stations.
On Tuesday, a man was shot at a northwest Atlanta gas station during an attempted robbery.
Elected officials pushing for the legislation now say the surveillance footage could aid in situations of gun violence and property crimes.
