ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - Under a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures warmed into the mid and upper 80s in many spots this afternoon. It’s cooling through the 80s and into the 70s this evening. A few showers and thunderstorms have bubbled up this evening and spotty downpours continue tonight.

While coverage of rain may drop off a bit after sunset, a few showers are possible tonight. The chance of rain starts to increase as we approach sunrise Sunday.

FIRST ALERT | Scattered, to numerous, showers and thunderstorms are possible through Labor day Monday...

Sunday begins with lots of clouds, muggy conditions and temperatures in the lower 70s across the city of Atlanta; upper 60s and lower 70s, or so, outside of Atlanta. Spotty rain showers will already be roaming the area early Sunday. The chance of rain increases Sunday afternoon and evening. The chance of rain is greatest west of Metro Atlanta, across West Georgia. The risk of heavy rain and minor flooding is also greatest west of Atlanta.

However, a few downpours are a good bet across the Metro Sunday. Don’t cancel your holiday plans, but have a ‘plan b’ and a way to be alerted to stormy weather approaching you. The CBS46 Weather App is a free, easy-to-use resource.

The unsettled weather pattern lingers through Labor Day, ahead of a drier trend in the forecast heading into mid-week.

Have a great weekend,
