ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) - A deadly fiery crash on Interstate 285 westbound at Riverside Drive in Sandy Springs is causing traffic delays.

According to the Sandy Springs Police Department I-285 westbound should be reopened in about an hour.

The name of person who died has not been released at this time.

Police said a tractor-trailer rear ended another tractor-trailer hauling scrap metal and magnesium. The explosion from the impact came from the fuel onboard the tractor-trailer that caused the accident, which killed the driver.

Police said due to the intensity of the fire and the scrap metal, it has taken longer than normal for crews to clear the roadway.

“The magnesium keeps relighting. Cleanup is in progress and we are hoping to have lanes open soon. We will send out a Tweet when lanes reopen,” according to a statement from police.

CBS46 will update this story as it develops.
