1 dead, 1 injured, 9 displaced after fire at one-story southeast Atlanta home

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - One person died, one person was injured and nine people were displaced after a heavy fire tore through a one-story Atlanta home on Friday evening, officials confirmed.
Emergency crews responded to 81 Carter Ave. SE after reports of a fire around 9:35 p.m. Upon arrival, fire crews found heavy fire and smoke in the rear of a one-story home. Firefighters entered the home and conducted a search where they found one male dead. A female “self-extricated” and was rushed to a hospital. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.
The identity of the victim has not been released by officials at this time.
Red Cross was requested to provide assistance to nine displaced residents, officials say.
Officials confirmed a fire that displaced 10 to 15 people was reported at 670 DeKalb Ave.
The fires remain under investigation.
