ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Gun violence has been found as the leading cause of premature death in the United States, officials say.

According to the American Public Health Association, guns kill more than 38,000 people and cause nearly 85,000 injuries every year.

Spalding County Sheriff’s Office says an 11-year-old girl who was struck by a stray bullet died on Tuesday afternoon.
