Atlanta staple serves customers homemade meals for last 30 years

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - There’s nothing like a hot, homemade meal served with some love and hospitality. That’s something customers come back for again and again at the Atlanta staple, Mr. Everything Cafe.

“We started at 22 and 24 years old. He’s 52and I’m 54. And that’s all we know,” said Monica Smith, co-owner of Mr. Everything Cafe with her husband, William Smith.

The couple, who have been married for 32 years, opened Mr. Everything Cafe in 1993. In September. they opened a brand new two-story location with a full-service bar at 882 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW.

Family-owned and operated, the Smiths have 8 children and 10 grandchildren who call the restaurant a second home. Recently, the family celebrated a huge milestone — thirty years in business.

“Who would have thought 30 from now we would still be here? We started this from ground zero as I like to say,” said Smith.

The accomplishment is no surprise to Mr. Everything Cafe’s loyal customers who say the restaurant is invested in the community it serves.

“The food here is phenomenal. It’s a great place to go to. It’s a great atmosphere,” said Teasher Thomas, a customer.

With two other franchise locations in Atlanta, the Smith family plans to keep expanding and building their legacy. In the near future, they hope to open a restaurant inside Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

“I’m looking forward to the next thirty years because my grandkids will be here running everything,” said Smith.
