5-year-old girl dies after getting strangled by backyard swing
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Gray News) - Family members say a 5-year-old Colorado girl has died after she was strangled while playing on her backyard swing set.
Aurora Masters, 5, suffered brain trauma from the accident due to a lack of oxygen, according to her great aunt, Brenda Kennedy. She died Saturday, KDVR reports.
Kennedy says Aurora was caught up in a swing, which strangled her, as she played in her backyard.
“She pulled her little plastic slide over to where her swing was and somehow got caught up in the swing,” Kennedy told KDVR.
Aurora’s family gave doctors their approval for organ donation, wrote Kennedy on their GoFundMe page Sunday. Evaluations for donation were ongoing at that time.
The family plans to hold a memorial service and celebration of life for Aurora. They say any extra funds from their GoFundMe will be donated in memory of the 5-year-old.
