DeKalb County announces $28.9M retail development
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A new $28.9 million retail development has been announced in DeKalb County.
The Candler Crossing development will be located along Candler Road in southwest DeKalb County, the county said.
The centerpiece of the project will be a 50,325-square-foot Publix, according to the county. The county said, “the development comes at a pivotal moment, as the Kroger at Belvedere Plaza at Memorial and Columbia Drive officially closed its doors this week, leaving residents with one fewer option for healthy groceries.”
“This is more than a development project. It’s a commitment to the future of this community,” said Jacob Vallo, Chief Development Officer, DeKalb County. “We are grateful for the investment Venture South and Publix are making to improve fresh food access in South DeKalb.”
There will also be another 11,200-square-foot retail building. The county said some of the retail spaces would be available for “below-market rent.”
