‘I wouldn’t wish this on nobody’, Mother of 6-year-old struck, killed by vehicle speaks out

LAGRANGE, Ga. (WTVM) - A 6-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a landscaping truck while riding his scooter on Hogansville Road, according to his family.

6-year-old Macree Snelling was riding his scooter when he was hit by the truck. his family said.

Latouris Bell, Snelling’s mother said she was inside her home getting ready for work when the accident happened.

“Feel like it’s an out of body experience, this is a nightmare,” Bell said.

Bell said her son was riding on his scooter when he was hit by the landscaping truck just feet away from where he lived. His 9-year-old brother was nearby and witnessed the accident.

“He ran in there to tell my daughter that his brother had been hit,” Bell said.

Macree’s grandmother Victoria Favors said she is not angry at the driver but wants answers.

“How could you, how could you, how could you not see two kids out playing. I’m not angry at him, just feel like it could’ve been avoided,” Favors said.

Macree was a kindergartner at Callaway Elementary School. His family described him as energetic and someone who brightened up any room.

“He was just that energetic kid that always had energy and on the go. Brighten up the room when he walked in, make you laugh,” Bell said.

Troup County Schools released a statement Thursday that counseling will be available for students. The incident remains under investigation.

Macree’s family said he loved Spider-Man and they are planning a Spider-Man themed funeral in his honor.

Bell has organized a GoFundMe.
