Karli Barnett joined the Atlanta News First team as an anchor and reporter in March of 2023.
Originally from the Atlanta area, Karli is happy to be returning home. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia, majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Communication Studies, and minoring in Spanish.
Karli previously worked at CBS Miami as the weekend evening anchor, nightside reporter, and main fill-in anchor.
During her time in South Florida, she was nominated for an Emmy Award for her feature report “Mario Strong.” Some of her other notable coverage includes the Champlain Tower Condo Collapse, the Cuban rallies for freedom, wall-to-wall hurricane coverage, and Super Bowl LIV.
Before that, Karli was the morning and midday anchor at 13WMAZ in Central Georgia. She first began her television news career there as a “one-woman-band” journalist, where she would shoot, write, and edit her own stories.
You can catch Karli anchoring on Atlanta News First and Peachtree TV on Saturday and Sunday evenings and reporting nights during the week.
If you have a story idea, feel free to email her at Karli.barnett@wanf.com or connect with her on social media.
