LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police in Gwinnett County are sending out a warning to residents.
The Gwinnett County Police Department posted on social media that they have received reports of coyote sightings in the area. They are advising residents to be on alert, especially for the safety of pets while outdoors since “coyotes search for food and protection during breeding season, which runs from late February to early March.”
Here are some tips from GCPD for keeping you and your pets safe:
- Don’t leave small dogs unattended, even in a fenced yard.
- Cats and small dogs should not be left outside at night.
- Dogs should not be allowed to go loose in the woods.
- Don’t leave food or trash out at night.
