Second suspect in Paulding County boy’s murder turns himself in, sheriff’s office says

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Deputies have arrested a second man in connection to an 11-year-old boy’s murder last month in Paulding County.

Nazier Lloyd Anderson, 19, surrendered himself to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday at about 4:45 a.m., the department said. He faces two simple battery charges and a count of felony murder, jail records show.

Anderson’s arrest comes four days after another suspect, 18-year-old Osman Sesay Jr., was taken into custody during a traffic stop in Charlotte, North Carolina. Authorities said he will be extradited to Georgia to face his charges.

Law enforcement is still searching for a third suspect: 19-year-old Al-Hamid Ibrahim Kuyateh.

On April 30, 11-year-old Zander Whatley was killed by gunfire at his home on Ruth Way around 11 p.m.

Shareeda Dorsey, Whatley’s mother, told Atlanta News First that one of his older brothers was caught up with the wrong crowd and targeted. A group of boys allegedly shot at the home from the outside, and Whatley was hit while trying to escape upstairs.

“Sunday mornings, he would get up and watch church online and worship by himself in his room,” Dorsey said. “He was very popular. He was on student council at Hal Hutchens Elementary, and he was just a loving kid.”

Whatley’s funeral was held last Saturday — the same day he would have turned 12.
