‘She didn’t deserve this’: Daughter speaks out after mother killed, father charged with murder in Marietta
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Newly obtained arrest warrants reveal what Marietta police found when they searched Samantha Woolery’s home. The 42-year-old mother was found stabbed to death Sunday morning in her apartment off Williams Drive.
According to the warrants, investigators found a machete near her bed and bloody footprints leading to her front door. Ring camera video also captured her ex-husband Mickey Woolery, who was charged in connection to her death, leaving her apartment late Saturday night with blood on his hands, feet and pants.
The documents state police also found a bloody fingerprint on a wall near a light switch in Samantha’s home that matches Mickey’s right thumb. He’s facing felony and malice murder charges, amongst others.
“It felt like my heart got ripped out of my chest,” Naeema Woolery, the couple’s teenage daughter, said.
Naeema spoke exclusively with Atlanta News First Wednesday explaining how difficult this has all been to process. She said she had a hunch her father could be involved shortly after she learned her mother had been killed.
“I kind of had an idea, but I just didn’t want to believe it,” Naeema said. “But I never would think that he would (allegedly) ever lay his hands on my mom, of all people, because my mom really stuck her neck out for him. And at the end of the day, she always wanted to see the best in you.”

Naeema claimed her father has a violent past, and she filed a protective order against him two years ago in their home state of Indiana.
According to Hamilton County, Indiana court records, Mickey was charged with “felony domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old” in 2022. But that case was later dismissed.
“I just want people to hear my mom’s story because at the end of the day, she accomplished so much, and she was a victim,” Naeema said.
Samantha was on her way to becoming a surgeon. She was about to begin her residency at Grady Hospital in July through the Morehouse School of Medicine.

Naeema said her mom was incredibly smart and driven.
“My mom did not deserve this. She was an amazing person and such a hard worker and everybody that knew her could say the exact same,” Naeema said.
Police said they believe Mickey drove back to Indiana over the weekend after allegedly killing his ex-wife. He was taken into custody there and remains in the Hamilton County Jail. Eventually, he will be brought back to Georgia.
Naeema is asking the community to pray for her and her 14-year-old brother during this challenging time.
“In the end, we lost both parents,” Naeema said.
