ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A sinkhole that’s caused traffic disruptions in downtown Atlanta since late Tuesday has been repaired, the Department of Watershed Management (DWM) said Wednesday evening.

The sinkhole, located on North Avenue near the Coca-Cola headquarters, was discovered late Tuesday and led to lane closures for Wednesday commuters.

Crews worked around the clock to repair the sinkhole, which was nearly 5 feet wide. Around 7 p.m. Wednesday, Watershed Management said crews had completed repairs on the sinkhole and on a damaged sewer pipe at the location.

DMW said that all lanes were open around 9:45 p.m.

“I mean, I’m kind of glad they’re doing construction on a sinkhole because that’s kind of dangerous. You know?” said Jasaun King, who was walking to a meeting earlier Wednesday. “I’m glad that this side of the sidewalk is OK. But I mean, hey, what can you do?”

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
