Dunwoody police detective dies unexpectedly, department says
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Dunwoody Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own.
Detective Jordan Laverty died on Tuesday, officers shared on social media.
Laverty had been with Dunwoody for eight years and previously served with the DeKalb County Police Department for three years.
“He dedicated his time and service, and his absence has left a void that will not easily be filled,” they said. “We are heartbroken and wrapping our arms around his family in love and support.”
Laverty leaves behind a wife and four children.
The Dunwoody Police Foundation has created an online fundraiser to collect donations for the family.
“We know the Dunwoody community will rally behind our incredible Police Department & support Detective Laverty’s family in this time of need,” the foundation said.
