Suspect dead after armed break-in, SWAT standoff in DeKalb County neighborhood, police say

Police said the suspect was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The suspect in an armed break-in that turned into a SWAT standoff in a DeKalb County neighborhood on Monday has died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

DeKalb County police said they responded to a report of an armed break-in at a home in the 4900 block of Truitt Lane shortly before 11:15 a.m.

Officers then tracked the suspect to a nearby home and called in the SWAT team and bomb squad “to help talk the suspect out of the home.”

Police said the suspect was later found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officials have not identified the suspect.
