Smith has led Clayton County Public Schools since 2022 and has been with the school district for 30 years.
“I leave with no regrets, but only gratitude for the opportunity to serve, pride in what we have accomplished and full confidence in the district’s continued progress,” Smith said in the video.
Smith said retiring mid-year allows the board to find a suitable replacement before next school year.
