Woman faces federal charges following massive Clayton County meth seizure, officials say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A 36-year-old undocumented immigrant from Mexico is facing federal drug charges related to the seizure of roughly 200 pounds of methamphetamine from a Forest Park residence.

Maira Porras Corras appeared in federal court on June 16 following a criminal complaint charging her with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute meth.

Federal agents arrested Porras Corras last week after finding the meth in a detached garage, according to U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg. They also allegedly found other drug paraphernalia and items used to distribute drugs, including a digital scale and wrapping material.

Agents said they seized the drugs, along with $56,000 in cash, in her residence.

Porras Corras is also accused of selling about 2 pounds of methamphetamine in a church parking lot in March.

“My office will continue to prosecute, to the fullest extent of the law, illegal aliens and others who traffic deadly narcotics in our community,” U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg said in a statement.
