PECOS, Texas (KOSA/Gray News) - A 20-year-old man who moved to the United States from Mexico last year to build a better life was killed in a crash on Sunday.

In a message shared on social media, family members said Alex Holguín died in the crash on Interstate 20 near mile marker 53 near Pecos, Texas.

“Today my heart is shattered,” a relative wrote. “This morning, Alex Holguín went to heaven.”

Holguín’s family asked for prayers and support to help cover funeral costs and related expenses.

The family described Holguín as “forever 20” and thanked those who have offered prayers, support and donations during what they called an “incredibly difficult time.”

Witnesses said the interstate was shut down following the crash.

Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash remains under investigation.
