Man dead in shooting at Buckhead apartments; 3 charged, police say
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — One person is dead after a shooting at a luxury high-rise apartment building in Buckhead on Friday morning.
Atlanta police say officers responded to the building at Mezzo apartments off Peachtree Road NW at around 1:40 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man dead. Police believe the man lived at the apartment building.
The man killed was later identified as Jonquail Myers, 29, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The shooting appears to be related to a targeted robbery in the building’s parking deck, according to officers.
A friend of the victim was also hurt and was taken to the hospital, police say.
Officers were able to track a suspect vehicle, a black Chevrolet Impala, to Cobb County. Law enforcement there found the vehicle, and three people were detained and brought back to Atlanta police headquarters. Multiple charges are pending.
“We were able to work with the apartment complex and gather some information about what transpired,“ Lt. Christapher Butler said. ”Their video surveillance worked in the key spots, and because of them, everything came together very quickly for us.”
Three people were charged in connection to the deadly shooting.
Brian Wingo, Charles Lewis and Ky-Mani Goodings were all charged with murder and armed robbery. All three were taken to Fulton County Jail.
