Atlanta News First delivers books to kids at Rockbridge Elementary School
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Atlanta News First team is at Rockbridge Elementary School to deliver books to young learners and build confidence around reading.
ANF anchors and meteorologists, Georgia State University cheerleaders, and Pounce — GSU’s official mascot are on campus to help distribute 5,060 books.
The Books to Kids initiative started in 2018, and since then more than 70,000 books have been handed out to children in the metro Atlanta community.
Research shows that if children do not become confident readers by the 3rd grade, they will have a hard time catching up. So, events like Books to Kids are crucial for the next generations of readers.
“Books really open up a world that a lot of our children might not have access to,” said Rockbridge Elementary School Principal Lissette McRea.

“Reading broadens horizons. It allows kids to explore new places, new perspectives, and new possibilities with the turn of a page,” sais Matthew Shepherd of Delta Community Credit Union.
