Atlanta News First delivers ‘Books to Kids’ at Riverside Elementary School
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Atlanta News First team delivered books to young learners at Mableton’s Riverside Elementary School on Wednesday morning to build confidence in reading.
ANF anchors, meteorologists and Georgia State University cheerleaders were on campus Wednesday morning to help distribute more than 2,200 books.
“Reading helps us grow in all areas,” said Riverside Elementary School Principal Shayna Clinkscales. “It expands our imagination, and it goes on to help us become better writers, better communicators.”
The Books to Kids initiative started in 2018. Since then, more than 88,000 books have been handed out to children in the metro Atlanta community.
Research shows that if children do not become confident readers by the 3rd grade, they will have a hard time catching up. That’s why events like Books to Kids are crucial for the next generations of readers.
