ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - All lanes on I-75 southbound in Atlanta are back open after a deadly crash shut down the interstate for several hours, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

One person was killed and six others were injured in the crash.

The crash, which involved seven vehicles, happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. on the interstate at Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road.

The crash happened when all of the vehicles involved driving in the same lane on the interstate.

“Traffic began diverting around a disabled Pontiac vehicle and as traffic began stopping abruptly, two Freightliner CMVs struck a white Ford Transit van, which then struck a Hyundai car, that then hit a Toyota Corolla, causing it to overturn, making contact with a Audi A4. The Freightliner steering to the left while striking the Ford van also overturned,” GSP troopers said.

The person in the Toyota was killed, according to GSP.
