ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Productions filmed in Georgia did not do as well as expected with the Oscar nominations, but one production filmed in Georgia is still in contention for a statue.

“The Six Triple Eight” is nominated for Best Original Song for “The Journey.” The movie about an all-Black, all-female battalion in the U.S. Army in World War II was written and directed by Tyler Perry.

It was partly filmed in Atlanta and Cedartown in Polk County. It was also filmed at multiple locations in the United Kingdom.

“The Journey” was written and performed by Diane Warren, who has received 16 competitive Oscar nominations. She has yet to win.
