Police: Man killed in shooting at DeKalb County shopping center showed up in mask, carrying gun
It was the first of two shootings at the same shopping center in 24 hours

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police said a man killed in the first of two weekend shootings at a shopping center near Stone Mountain showed up with a gun to confront another man for disrespecting his girlfriend.
DeKalb County police previously said 22-year-old Antionne Ryan was shot at the shopping center in the 1100 block of South Hairston Road on Friday afternoon.
On Monday, police said Ryan died of his injuries.

On Tuesday afternoon, they released more details on what led to the deadly shooting, along with more details on a shooting at the same shopping center on Saturday.
Police said Ryan drove to the shopping center after his girlfriend called him because “she believed a man was disrespecting her.” Ryan reportedly arrived wearing a mask and carrying a gun.
Witnesses told police Ryan shot a man in his late 40s. They said the victim’s son then pulled out a gun and shot Ryan multiple times.
The victim’s son was shot once.
Police said several vehicles and two businesses were hit by gunfire, but nobody else was hurt.
Police haven’t yet released the identity of the victim in his 40s.
Investigators “determined the shooting of Ryan was justified and it will be sent to the district attorney’s office for review.”

The second shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
Multiple suspects, ”possibly teenagers,” arrived at the plaza in a stolen vehicle, got out and started shooting toward the Taste of Jamaica restaurant, according to police.
Inside, a man in his late 50s was shot in both ankles, and a woman in her early 60s was hurt by broken glass, police said. Both victims were taken to the hospital.
The suspects drove out of the parking lot and crashed into another vehicle near the intersection of South Hairston and Redan Road. The suspects then got out and ran into the nearby woods. Police still haven’t found them.

“Regarding the Friday shooting, we are seeing more incidents of violence that stem from arguments getting out of control,” DeKalb County police said in a statement. “There is no harm to be done if all parties can just walk away from an argument. There can, however, be lifelong and life-ending consequences the moment someone pulls out a weapon. Violence is not the answer. It has a destructive ripple effect, hurting many more people besides those in the immediate conflict. Just walk away.”
