ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Police are investigating an overnight drive-by shooting in southwest Atlanta that turned out to be fatal.

The shooting happened at the intersection of Lynhurst Drive SW and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive some time after midnight on Monday. According to police, officers were flagged down to what looked like a car accident.

As the investigation progressed, officers found an unresponsive 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound inside a black Chevrolet Corvette. The man, later identified as Quentavius Monday, was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts were unsuccessful.

Atlanta police said they believe Monday was shot while he was driving, and then “accelerated and fatally struck a female.”

The woman killed has not been identified.

Shell casings of multiple calibers were found at the scene. Police are also looking into security footage that may have caught what took place.

Police believe shots were fired from another vehicle at the Corvette before it crashed into what looked like a MARTA bus stop. No word has been given on whether or not the victim fired a weapon.
