USPS carrier charged with stealing jewelry from package
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The U.S. Postal Service is on high alert after one of their carriers was charged with a crime.
It happened at the Atlantic apartment homes on Pitts Road in Sandy Springs.
According to Sandy Springs Police, Robbin Nichelle Daniels was arrested this week and charged with stealing jewelry from a package that she was supposed to deliver. The incident was caught on camera.
“Prior to delivering one particular package she opened the package and removed two pendants, a set of earrings and also a necklace,” Sgt. Leon Millholland with Sandy Springs Police said.
Police said the jewelry Daniels is accused of stealing is worth nearly a thousand dollars and before taking the items she signed for it.
“Ms. Daniels had forged a signature and had signed for the package prior to delivering the package,” Millholland said.
Atlanta News First also contacted the Office of The Inspector General and they said they are not releasing any information regarding the case.
But our investigation found that Daniels has faced prior criminal charges. In May, Dunwoody Police arrested Daniels for aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.
“There’s still an open investigation to see if maybe if it involved any other criminal activity,” Millholland said.
Police said they are still investigating this case. Atlanta News First did speak with the suspect over the phone and she told us that she is not guilty.
