‘Mama, he shot me on purpose’: 10-year-old boy accused of shooting 9-year-old friend
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB/Gray News) - A 9-year-old boy in Louisiana is recovering after allegedly being shot by his 10-year-old friend.
Lakisha Ledguies said her son, Tre’Michael, was spending time with his 10-year-old friend when the friend allegedly shot him on Dec 6.
“I lost it. Not my baby. Not my baby,” Ledguies said.
Tre’Michael was taken to the hospital, where his mom rushed to be by his side. When he was able to speak, he told his mother the shooting was deliberate.
“When the tube first came out of his mouth and he was able to talk, the first word was me, ‘Mama, Mama, he shot me on purpose,’” Ledguies said.

The Alexandria Police Department initially said the shooting appeared to be accidental. After further investigation, they determined it was intentional.
The 10-year-old, who is not being named because he’s a minor, has been arrested for aggravated second-degree battery and juvenile in possession of a handgun.
He has been placed in the Renaissance Home for Youth.
“It was in my gut feeling that it kind of was on purpose because my baby doesn’t be around guns,” Ledguies said.
It remains unclear how the child got the gun.
Ledguies hopes other parents will take action to prevent similar incidents.
“Take the guns away. Take them away. They don’t need them,” she said.
A GoFundMe has been created to help with Tre’Michael’s recovery.
KALB has not been able to reach the mother of the 10-year-old arrested in the case.
