ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — On State Bridge Road in Alpharetta, an Indian restaurant received the lowest score we’ve seen this year on a routine health inspection.

Madras Chettinaad scored only 31 points and a “U” for unsatisfactory on Jan. 28. The report says an employee prepared raw chicken and failed to wash hands before handling other items, food was stored uncovered in coolers and dry storage, and milk, eggs, and chicken were at unsafe temperatures.

An employee told Atlanta News First that there was no manager at the restaurant. Moments later, a manager showed up to answer our questions and said the restaurant’s food was now at the proper temperature and safe to eat.

I also noticed management did not post the failing report on the wall for customers to see.

Now to an update in Fulton County. Ichiban Steak & Sushi on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta improved on a reinspection this week, earning 91 points and an “A.”

Polanco on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs earned a 100 on its last health inspection. Congratulations, it is the winner of this week’s Golden Spatula award.

It has been in business for two years. The quaint, cozy and classy restaurant is named after a high-end area in Mexico City, so it has tried to recreate that vibe. When it comes to the food, it uses the freshest ingredients, everything is made to order, and you can get a nice cocktail at the bar.

You may want to start out with the chili rellenos wrapped in bacon; they have several salsas that they make in-house and the blue tortilla chips to go with it. It also has the Polanco trio that you can enjoy with the chips. It has a chicken bowl on the menu, tuna tostadas, an assortment of tacos, and a torta, which is a Mexican sandwich. Boy, that’s good!
