Family member dies in car line to pick up student from school, officials say

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina/Gray News) - A family member experienced a medical emergency and died while in a car line to pick up a student at a South Carolina high school.

Dorman High School Principal Joshua Dawkins sent a message to families on Thursday saying the death happened while the family member was waiting for dismissal.

Dawkins said that all home athletic events were canceled for that night.

He also asked that any student who may have witnessed the emergency and needs counseling contact one of the school’s mental health counselors.
