2 former Peachtree City flight school owners accused of stealing money from students
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Two former owners of a Peachtree City flight school have been arrested for allegedly stealing money from their students.
Alex Hamlin, 34, and Harlan Hamlin, 59, each face 20 counts of theft by conversion and one count of violating Georgia’s racketeering act, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The GBI was asked to look into the case in February 2025 at the request of Peachtree City police. According to the police department, several students complained about “financial discrepancies” in their FLYT Aviation accounts after the school was sold to a new owner in October 2024.
The GBI believes that several accounts, including those of students who had scholarships or were in financing programs, were “misappropriated” by the Hamlins.
Both suspects were booked in Fayette County Jail on Friday.
The incident remains under investigation, and more arrests are expected, according to the GBI.
