Ossoff rallies Cobb volunteers with Buttigieg 10 days before election
MABLETON, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff rallied volunteers in Cobb County on Saturday, 10 days before the midterm election.
“It is the most important midterm election in modern American history, and the president is out of control,” Ossoff said.
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg joined Ossoff and urged volunteers to use the remaining days to reach voters.
“We got 10 days left and we’re ready to use every one of those 10 days to get every possible vote out,” Buttigieg said.
Supporters prepared to go door to door to encourage Georgians to vote.
Members of the carpenters union attended, including Jordan Hair, who said the economy is a major concern for workers in his industry.
“I’m barely keeping on with what I got. I can’t imagine what people who have kids and a wife, dogs, all that extra stuff, trying to just stay afloat,” Hair said. “Let alone try to thrive and go that extra mile. So yeah, it’s hard.”
President Donald Trump and Rep. Mike Collins held a rally in Perry the same day. Ossoff criticized Collins over alleged neo-Nazi connections and raised concerns about the president’s financial interests.
“His health care cuts have thrown hundreds of thousands of Georgians off of their health insurance and doubled premiums for more than 1 million Georgians, and all the while the president sits in the Oval Office enriching himself and his family to the tune of billions of dollars,” Ossoff said. “If ever there was a time in American history when we needed checks and balances in our government, it’s right now.”
Ossoff also addressed Trump’s visit, saying Trump “has come to Georgia to campaign for Mike Collins, who continues to allow antisemitic and white nationalist propaganda to be produced from his home.”
“The White House must answer why they continue to support a candidate who allows hate, antisemitism and white nationalism to be produced and disseminated from his home,” Ossoff said.
