9-year-old boy shoots himself in hand at southeast Atlanta home, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A child shot himself in the hand at a southeast Atlanta home, according to Atlanta police.

Police said the shooting happened at 659 Hutchens Road SE. The boy reportedly found the gun in a drawer at home. When he was playing with it, it went off. The bullet hit him in the hand, according to police.

Police then searched the home and found both that gun and another unsecured gun. The second gun’s owner, Miuana Fair, was arrested and charged with reckless conduct.
