Woman killed in 7-car pileup days before 25th birthday, family says
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A woman was killed three days before her 25th birthday in a seven-car pileup on Interstate 75, her family said.
McKayla Harshaw was killed after traffic began diverting around a disabled Pontiac vehicle on Friday, Sept. 27, according to officials.
“McKayla was a beautiful, thriving young woman with her entire life ahead of her,” Melissa Gunther, Harshaw’s mother, said.

McKayla Harshaw’s family created a online fundraiser to help pay for her funeral, and have collected nearly $15,000 in donations so far.

As traffic began to stop, two trucks struck a van, which hit another car, which then hit the Toyota Corolla that Harshaw was in, causing it to overturn, GSP troopers said.
Harshaw was in the passenger seat with her boyfriend, according to Gunther.
The crash happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. at Northside Drive and Howell Mill Road, and shut down I-75 south for several hours.
