Freshman Georgia punter has ‘rough’ debut in Sugar Bowl vs. Notre Dame
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Freshman punter Drew Miller is making his first career appearance for the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish did not make it easy for him.
On both of his first two career punts, Notre Dame defensive lineman Bryce Young came after Miller and incurred a running into the kicker penalty.
In the NCAA, a running into the kicker penalty can be called when a defensive player makes contact with the kicker’s kicking leg.
Miller replaced Brett Thorson, who was injured in the SEC Championship.
