Plains post office renamed to honor Jimmy, Rosalynn Carter
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Georgia’s only president was honored Wednesday in the small town that he called his home until the very end.
The post office in Plains, Georgia, was officially renamed for President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn.
The Sumter County town is about 150 miles south of Atlanta. Congress passed legislation in January allowing the post office to be renamed in their honor.
The dedication of the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Post Office was a celebration of their commitment to humanitarian efforts and community engagement.
