COBB COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An investigation has begun after a deadly hit-and-run caused several lanes to shut down on I-75 northbound in Cobb County early Wednesday morning.

The hit-and-run happened after a crash involving two tractor-trailers on I-75 N past S.R. 120/N Marietta Parkway (exit 264), according to Marietta police.

Police say both drivers pulled over and got out of their vehicles, but one of them, 36-year-old Terrell Lowdermilk, was hit and killed by a passenger car. The driver did not stop after the collision.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), several lanes were blocked on the highway while police and emergency responders worked at the scene. The highway opened back up just before 5:30 a.m.

Police believe the suspect vehicle was a 2019-2022 Chevrolet Silverado truck. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer D. Lester at 770-794-5352.
