1 killed, 1 hospitalized after shooting outside event hall, Atlanta police say
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — One person is dead and another is being treated for injuries after a shooting outside a southwest Atlanta event hall Sunday night, according to police.
Officers responded to the shooting on 1955 Campbellton Road SW just before 10 p.m. When they arrived, they found a 26-year-old man shot and killed in the parking lot of a nearby gas station at 1975 Campbellton Road SW.
Police say another man was also found shot and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was “last reported to be in stable condition.”
According to investigators, an argument started at the event hall, which spilled over into the gas station’s parking lot. The victims were walking away when two people shot them, detectives believe.
Now, police are looking through security video to find out who shot whom.
“Right now, we’re still investigating the circumstances. We’ve got some good information as far as it may have been a dispute that spilled over into the parking lot,” Atlanta Police Lt. Christapher Butler said. “We are unsure of the involvement of the deceased with the gunfire. So we’re still working that and gathering some video evidence and trying to speak with people in the community.”
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta or the Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit.
