Lottery player marks wedding anniversary with $100,000 win
GRANITEVILLE, S.C. (WRDW/Gray News) - A South Carolina lottery player will not forget the date he won a jackpot, because it was also his wedding anniversary.
The Graniteville man has played the five numbers for a couple of years and it won him a $100,000 Palmetto Cash 5 jackpot on July 7.
He said he checked his ticket from the Pilot Travel Center on Bettis Academy Road over and over again.
“I told my wife, ‘I have an anniversary present for you. I think we won $100,000,’” he said.
His wife thought he was joking until she checked the numbers on his ticket for herself.
The couple agreed the win made their anniversary extra special this year. The husband said he is still playing those lucky numbers.
For selling the claimed ticket, Pilot Travel Center 4568 in Graniteville received a commission of $1,000.
The odds of winning a Palmetto Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 850,668.
