Homeowner accused of killing man who broke into their house through a window
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - Alabama authorities say a Mobile homeowner shot and killed a man who broke into the house through a window.
According to Mobile police, officers responded to the home Monday night on Calgary Drive following a shots-fired call.
Investigators said 37-year-old David Lee Jr. broke into the home through a window, and the homeowner then shot and killed him.
A neighbor said it’s sad someone was killed, but they believed the homeowner did what they had to do to protect themselves and their family.
The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office noted it was reviewing the shooting as a possible self-defense case.
Under Alabama’s stand-your-ground law, a homeowner does not have to retreat before using force against someone who breaks into their home.
No further details were immediately released from the scene.
