ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A suspect injured in a shooting in which two Woodstock officers were also injured has been identified, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

Police said officers responded to a suspicious person call near Paden and Maple streets around 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

Nijm Scott, 38, was found in a retention pond. He at first threatened to shoot anyone who came near him, “then stated that he was going to start shooting and made a sudden movement,” the GBI said.

Scott was shot and taken to a hospital.

The officers reportedly received minor injuries. Authorities have not said how they were injured.

The police department has asked the GBI to look into the incident, which is customary for shootings that involve law enforcement.

On Friday morning, crews were seen draining the retention pond near the scene.
