Man pleads guilty to murder in LaGrange park, police say

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A suspect pleaded guilty to killing a man in 2023 after detectives discovered the murder weapon, LaGrange police said.

Police said Billy Joe Tyler III shot and killed Kenneth Dial during a robbery on Aug. 28, 2023. Tyler robbed Dial in the Sunny Point Recreation Area around 7:30 a.m. before shooting him, according to police.

Dial died at the scene.

Detectives reportedly recovered the gun used in the killing.

“When confronted with this new evidence, the offender, Billy Joe Tyler, chose to plead guilty to the charge of murder,” police said.

Tyler will be sentenced May 11.
