ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A man has been arrested after Marietta police say he shot at two cars, one of which was occupied by his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend, at an apartment complex.

Khalil Barnett, 19, was arrested at around 8 a.m. Monday by Marietta police and Cobb County police SWAT teams. He faces charges of aggravated assault with intent to murder, first-degree child cruelty and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Shortly after midnight, Marietta police were called to Laurel Hills Preserve Apartments off Bells Ferry Road for reported gunfire near building 42. The victim said Barnett, her ex-boyfriend, shot at the vehicle she was riding in.

Police found multiple shell casings and two cars riddled with bullet holes. Nobody was injured in the spray of gunfire.

Barnett was booked in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
